Prior to this role, she worked at Stack Overflow, where she held several different functions in sales and marketing. Bethany has a degree in journalism from Northwestern University and remains an active leader in the alumni community. She lives in New York City with her husband and cat.

In this post, I am specifically referring to the inception of VC in the “high tech” industry, but you’re right that this is also a very important voice that has been overlooked. I hope we see more modern-day representation here as well.

There’s been a lot of press lately about the culture of harassment that’s taking Silicon Valley by storm. Stories of sexism and outrage. Of women receiving less overall funding for their businesses than men and fewer opportunities to have a seat at the table on the VC side at all. At last count, fewer than 7% of investing partners at VC firms are women.
